Three proved to be the charm for Heidi Nute of Miami Beach, Fla., who landed three of four tournament species -- bonefish, redfish, snook and tarpon -- at the annual Women's Fall Fly Classic that ended Oct. 9.
Guided by Captain Rob Fordyce of Homestead, Fla., Nute earned the tournament championship as well as awards for the most snook and most bonefish with one redfish, nine snook and 11 tarpon, all released on fly.
Based on her tournament win, Nute is to receive an invitation to the 2010 Florida Keys Outfitters/IGFA Inshore Tournament of Champions.
Sandie Bishop of Aspen, Co., took second place in the tournament with four releases: one bonefish, two snook and one tarpon. She was guided by Captain Tim Klein of Islamorada.
The Women's Fly Series includes both spring and fall angling challenges. The 34th annual Women's Spring Fly Tarpon Tournament is set for June 15-17, 2010. The 2010 Women's Fall Fly Classic is to be held Oct. 6-8.
