Important Upcoming Event- Gamefish Bill Open Forum

HB 983 - Fisheries Economic Development Act Open Forum

House Bill 983, which seeks gamefish status for Red Drum, Spotted Sea Trout and estuarine striped bass, was recently filed in the North Carolina House on behalf of CCA NC. The bill also contains other provisions that will prove to be beneficial for commercial as well as recreational fishermen.

On Monday, May 6th, the NC House of Representatives, will hold an open forum to allow individuals to provide public comment on HB 983. This meeting will take place at 1:30 pm in Raleigh at the General Assembly’s Legislative Office Building in Room 643 (room numbers are always subject to change) Speakers will be required to sign up prior to the start of the meeting and will be allowed 2 minutes to share their comments.

The time is now to pass HB 983 and the recreational fishing community must show our legislators how significant HB 983 will be in regards to economic growth and job creation for North Carolina. Even if you choose not to speak, please plan to attend. Your attendance will make a strong statement of support for the bill.
