On August 11, at the Salon Boquete of the ATLAPA Convention Center, Dr. Guy Harvey received the Panamanian governmental award "Orden Vasco Núñez de Balboa, Gran Oficial".
The award, which is the highest award presented by the Republic of Panama to a foreign citizen, was given in recognition of his work promoting Panama as a destination for sport fishing. The Minister of Tourism Salomon Shamah presented the Order on behalf of the National Government.
The occasion was coincident with the release of Dr. Harvey's book, Panama Paradise - A Tribute to Tropic Star Lodge.
