New Smyrna Beach, Fla. - Bringing together two of the year's top fishing tournaments along with a boat show, seminars and many other exciting activities and exhibits, FishStock, the one-of-a-kind festival of fishing and fun, offers anglers and their families the total saltwater experience. FishStock returns to New Smyrna Beach at Riverside Park for the eighth consecutive year this Memorial Day weekend, May 27-30, 2010.
"The eighth annual FishStock is emerging as our biggest event yet," said Drew Townes, director of sales and marketing for FishStock. "Not only do we expect a great turnout for our fishing tournaments, but we've also added some fun new onshore elements to our event that the whole family can enjoy."
At its core, FishStock comprises its two signature fishing competitions: the Redfish-Trout Challenge, presented by Hell's Bay Boatworks, and the Striker Offshore Tournament, presented by Mercury Marine. Both competitions are among the largest fishing contests in the nation, attracting hundreds of competitive anglers from throughout the country to compete for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes.
Hell's Bay Boatworks has instituted some innovative conservation measures for the Redfish-Trout Challenge, including its 2,000-gallon release tank, which provides 6,000 gallons of raw water per hour identical to the fish's original environment. Because the tank is located on a floating dock, at the end of the day the fish are taken to the shallow-water estuary and allowed to recover fully before being released back into the shallow-water environment.
All the action isn't just on the water: On land, anglers and their families can enjoy the activities of the FishStock Village. The Village features adult and youth fishing seminars, a boat show, live music, food, fishing clinics, tackle exhibits and the first-ever FishStock 5K and Family Fun Run.
The FishStock 5K will be held on Saturday, May 29, at 8 a.m. For more details or to register for the run, visit www.fishstock5k.com.
