Dolphin Masters INvitational Set for May 27

Anglers targeting dolphin are to vie for an $18,750 cash purse during the fifth annual Yamaha Dolphin Masters Invitational, to take place Saturday, May 27, in the waters around Key West.

KEY WEST, Florida Keys -- Anglers targeting dolphin are to vie for an $18,750 cash purse during the fifth annual Yamaha Dolphin Masters Invitational, to take place Saturday, May 27, in the waters around Key West.

The angler scoring the highest total combined weight of three dolphin catches is to take home $13,405, while the second-place winner is to receive $5,345. The cash purse is based on participation by a field of 25 boats.

The angling challenge is headquartered in Key West's Historic Seaport at the Conch Republic Seafood Company, 631 Greene St.

Tournament events are to kick off at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 26, with a final registration, captains meeting and party.

The following morning, fishing is to begin with a Bimini start at 7 a.m. Anglers are to weigh in their dolphin at the Conch Republic Seafood docks 3:30- 4:30 p.m., and an awards party is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Conch Republic Seafood.

The entry fee is $1,030, with registration limited to 25 boats.
