CCA Florida and The Wildlife Foundation of Florida would like your help. A request for funding of a series of saltwater hatcheries has been submitted to Governor Crist's office and to Florida's congressional delegation for support in the Federal economic stimulus package. Having these saltwater hatcheries placed around the state will help to enhance gamefish populations around the state along with bringing jobs to your area. This would help Florida's recreational saltwater fishing and would help boost Florida's economy.
The hatchery projects would construct 7 gamefish hatcheries on the East and West Coasts of Florida at a cost of $138 million. These hatcheries would also include habitat restoration projects as well as education centers. While the support is growing from anglers and boaters alike we still need your help.
The Governor and elected state officials will have the final decision on where this stimulus money will be spent in Florida. Contact your elected officials and let them know that you want to have a sustainable fishery for years to come tell them that this is the right direction for Florida's marine fishery.
