Casa Vieja Lodge welcomes Capt. Ron Hamlin

Casa Vieja Lodge welcomes Capt. Ron Hamlin

Casa Vieja Lodge welcomes Capt. Ron Hamlin to our team.  Starting February 1st, 2009, Capt. Ron Hamlin takes control of the Buddy Boy - a fully restored 43ft Merritt, formerly called Nany. Capt. Hamlin is familiar with this boat, as it was called the Prowess back in the 70's and it was from this platform that his client caught the first grander Atlantic blue marlin record that still stands.  Capt. Hamlin has released 25,000 plus billfish in his career, 80% of which were released in Guatemalan waters.

Just a few of his accomplishments:

2006 - TBF - Top Tagging Captain - Pacific and Top Tagging Captain Overall

2006 - IGFA Overall Captain of the Year Award

2006 - Current holder of these bait release records for billfish:

124 Sailfish in one day (March 2006)
   300 Sailfish in 3 days
   508 Sailfish in 7 days
   862 Sailfish in 1 month
2,809 Billfish in one season (October 2006)

2007 - Inducted in the Miami International Boat Show Big Game Room Hall of Fame

2007 - Top Tagging Captain in the Pacific - The Billfish Foundation (10 years in a row)
