Carey Chen honored by Florida FWC

Marine artist Carey Chen was honored recently at the opening of a Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission meeting held at the International Game Fish Association Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum for his contribution to marine conservation.

Chen holds a strong conviction for marine preservation and youth education in the state of Florida and beyond.

"I am honored and thrilled to be acknowledged by the FWC," said Chen, "I try to use my art to recreate the beauty I see and hope from the efforts of the FWC that we are able to share this beauty with generations to come."

The Commission recognized his contributions, which include raising money for youth fishing foundations and various other charities. Chen is the featured artist for Florida Sportfishing magazine. Selections of Chen's paintings are on display at the June 11-12 meeting at the International Game Fish Association Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum.

Chen was honored along with Monroe County Assistant State Attorney Patrick McCullah for enforcing laws that protect Florida fish and wildlife resources and Greenacres Elementary School for their participation in the WILD program, a national education program.

"These are the types of committed individuals who make a difference to our fish and wildlife in Florida," said Rodney Barreto, FWC chairman. "And the very best way to instill these conservation values is to begin with the children."

Growing up in Jamaica and Miami, Chen has absorbed his life experiences at sea and puts them on canvas. His fascinating use of colors and precision for capturing detail has catapulted Carey to the forefront of the marine art industry.  Cayman Arts, Inc., featuring The Carey Chen Collection is comprised of an extensive gallery of fine art including originals, giclees, prints and tiles, as well as many high quality licensed products that feature his artwork and images.  To view the complete collection, please visit us at our location in North Palm Beach or on the web at www.CareyChen.com.
