Renowned lady angler Stacey Georgia Parkerson has done it again. The 2010 Cap Cana Fishing season just got a little hotter with the capture of Stacey's 46th International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) pending world record 46 pound white marlin caught on the fly with 12 pound tippet. CapCana Marina Manager, Capt. Andy New said, "This is a first as such a feat has ever been accomplished in the Atlantic Ocean by a female in angling history!"
With the current record, Ms. Parkerson has also secured the Billfish World Record Grand Slam. She has world records for Pacific Sail fish on 2, 4, 6 and 8 pound tippet. Atlantic White Marlin on 12 pound, Pacific Blue Marlin on 16 and 20 pound and Atlantic Blue Marlin on 20 pound. In April another angler secured his title for Billfish World Grand Slam at CapCana, also catching a white marlin. Nine year old Jack McCluskey, secured the spot for youngest to reach the Grand Slam level.
Stacey, a 30 year old native of Colorado, spent her young life learning the skill of fly fishing in South Florida. She has won the Billfish Foundation Lady Angler of the Year for several years for the most releases and tags, well over 2,000 billfish. Capt. New said, "Stacey is the most successful Lady Billfish Angler on light tackle fly in the history of sport fishing."
All of Stacey's Billfish records have been caught aboard the Spirit of Pilar a 52' Paul Spencer custom sport fish, which is owned by Stacey's long time companion and fellow world record angler Enrico Capozzi. Enrico and Stacey have recently made Marina Cap Cana their new home and base of operation for their quest for Atlantic Billfish World Records. Capozzi holds 69 IGFA World records of his own, giving the Spirit of Pilar team a total of 95 IGFA World Records.
The Spirit of Pilar is Scott Jones, who has been fishing with Enrico for over 20 years. Other current members of the Spirit of Pilar team are mates Paul Rossberg and Pelon Ruiz.
Cap Cana's marina is a key property in Brandy Marine International's expanded management portfolio of high-end international resort marinas. Brandy Marine also manages the 180-slip Marina Papagayo at the five-star Peninsula Papagayo resort in Costa Rica.
