Cabo Yachts is proud to announce eight-year-old Ken Nakamura of Rye, NY as the winner of the 2007 Cabo Kids Summer Tournament.
Fishing aboard a Cabo 35 Flybridge, Ken took home the grand prize of $2,500, plus a rod and reel. The prize was presented to Ken during the Norwalk Boat Show by Cabo Yachts President Austin Rothbard, and Vice President of Sales and Marketing Jim Renfrow.
Now in its fifth year, the Cabo Kids Summer Tournament promotes family participation in the great adventures of sportfishing. In addition to the grand prize, first and second prizes were awarded within three different age categories.
First prize in the 5-8 year old category was won by Ken's younger brother, five- year-old Eddie Nakamura, who was presented with $500, plus a rod and reel. Second place was hooked by eight-year-old Victoria Savage of Metairie, LA. Fishing on a Cabo 32 Express, Victoria won a rod and reel.
First place in the 9-13 year old category was last year's grand prize winner, Andy Quattlebaum of Pawley's Island, SC. Ten-year-old Andy won $500 plus a rod and reel after a summer of fishing aboard a Cabo 40 Express. The second place rod and reel was awarded to 13- year-old Brandon Krumins of Winter Park, FL, fishing aboard a Cabo 45 Express.
In the 14-16 year old category, 16-year-old Colin Fender of Signal Hill, CA placed first, winning $500 plus a rod and reel while fishing from a Cabo 47 Flybridge. Kingsport, Tennessee's Hunter Beedle, also 16, captured second place and a rod and reel while fishing aboard a Cabo 35 Express.
"This year we had over 40 kids enter the tournament. It's gratifying to see families participating in a fun spirited sport fishing event," Renfrow said.
Next year, the Sixth Annual Cabo Kids Tournament will run from the beginning of May through the end of August. Entry forms and tournament rules will be available May 1, 2008 on the Cabo Yachts website, www.caboyachts.com.
