Bertram Yachts to Move Headquarters

The iconic yacht builder will move headquarters from Miami to Merritt Island.

Bertram Yachts, maker of some of the finest big-game fishing vessels in the world, will soon be moving its Florida headquarters some 200 miles up the coast, from Miami to Merritt Island.

The move ends a 50-year legacy in Miami, with the new operation located at 1230 Sea Ray Drive. Company officials had searched for a new home base along the East Coast for more than a year before reaching a final agreement to lease the new facility from Titusville, Fla., boatbuilder VectorWorks Inc., according to an article in Florida Today.

“We looked at over 30 plant sites,” Bertram president Alton Herndon told Florida Today. “This proved to be the best of the best.”

Bertram plans to hire 221 people, and the company estimates that initially 15 to 25 new yachts in the 50- to 80-foot range will be built annually.
