Another Study Shows Released Fish Survive

The study shows that more than 90 percent of fish released by anglers can survive.

A new study shows that with proper release techniques, mortality of recreationally caught and released jewfish (in fact, a drum much like our redfish and white seabass) in Australia can be very low.

Release mortality is always a concern among anglers and fisheries managers, but studies such as this one continue to show that for many fisheries, more than 90 percent of fish released by anglers can survive. That knowledge is important as fisheries managers determine catch allocations.
