The 18th. Edition of the El Salvador International Billfish Tournament is now over but not without leaving everyone happy and wanting to come back for more. This year we had 34 boats/150+ anglers many coming from different parts of the USA, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Brazil, Venezuela, New Zealand and of course they were joined by whole bunch of happy Salvadoran anglers all eager to have fun and compete. Many new people came to witness the great fishing that this event is now famous for… people like Capt. Bart Miller, Capt. Dave Brackmann, Capt. Tim Choate, Hill Dishman, Capt. Chris van Leeuwen “Kiwi”, Capt. Jason Brice… and many more.

The marlin division and grand prize consisting of a brand new 2013 Pursuit center console sponsored by Maspor-Marine was won by team White Marlin with two blue marlin releases with the last release at 7:35 am on the last day of fishing. On a close second position was team Sandy-ita also with two blue marlin releases only 24 minutes later for an incredibly close finish. The Sailfish division was swept by boats from Guatemala with team Allure taking first place with 22 sailfish releases, team “Chechos” came in second with 16 sailfish releases and third was for team “La Joya” with 14 sailfish releases. The release divisions saw a total of 15 blue marlin, 2 striped marlin and 117 sailfish released with most of them wearing TBF tags. Funfish action was also red hot with many boats bringing nice dorados and yellowfin tunas.

In all, it was a tremendous tournament and not one billfish was killed and we all are eager to do it again… see you all here in 2013!!!
