Capt. Chris O'Neill of Tail Chaser Charter Services (www.tailchasercharters.com) is a special saltwater fishing guide. He goes out of his way to teach people the proper techniques for catching and releasing fish, whether on the boat or at one of many local seminars. He lectures on tools and techniques of the trade and teaches newcomers and avid anglers alike. His special talent is teaching kids his love of fishing.

Chris is also very conscious of conservation in our saltwater fishery to help future generations enjoy his sport. This year on all of his fishing charters, he is using circle hooks almost exclusively to increase release rates of healthy fish. They work very effectively on the flats with live or cut bait or under a popping cork.

I have been out with many fishing guides over the years but after fishing with Chris, he has become my favorite guide. I fish with him 15 to 20 times each year and have enjoyed his enthusiasm and knowledge of fishing for four years. It is not often you find a person who is passionate about their job.

Chris has been a charter captain for many years and still loves the sport of fishing and conveying his love of the sport to others. He is a major part of the Englewood fishing community and can be found at most of their functions whether lecturing or participating in activities. He is willing to go out of his way when it comes to the kids. Chris is always at the forefront of kid fishing derbys to raise money for community causes or just help a youngster catch his/her first fish.

I hope Chris will be around for many years to come and some of his enthusiam rubs off on the next generation of anglers in our community.
