Taking transom-mount transducers to a higher performance level, Airmar offers a new line of 1kW units — the TM258, TM260 and TM270W. Airmar says these new transom mounts deliver clear bottom imaging at speeds to 45 mph and mount on outboard or inboard/outboard boats with transom angles from 2 to 20 degrees. Each comes with a water-temperature sensor and features a kick-up bracket that locks in the up position if something strikes the transducer. The TM258 50/200 kHz unit costs $795 and reads to depths of 1,600 feet. The TM260 ($995) is a broadband transducer with a 19-degree beam at 50 kHz for blue-water trolling and deep dropping and a 6-degree beam at 200 kHz for target separation at depths from five to 300 feet. The TM270W ($1,195) features identical 25-degree beams at 50 and 200 kHz, making it best for marking bait and fish in shallow to midwater depths for marlin and tuna fishing offshore, downrigger fishing nearshore and vertical jigging over wrecks.
