Reflecting the long-standing tradition of reliability, durability and performance that built Penn Fishing Tackle into the most recognizable fishing-reel company in the world, Penn's International V-Series offers anglers the most advanced and reliable product on the big-game market. From the recently launched 16VS and 16VSX, two small power packs designed for specific fishing applications with input from some of sport fishing's most demanding anglers, to the heavy-duty and powerful 80VSW, there is an International V-Series reel to meet your big-game angling needs.

Every component that goes into building an International V-Series reel is carefully chosen for strength and corrosion resistance. Frames, side plates, and spools are machined from solid, forged 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum for uncompromised strength, lightweight attributes and durability in salt water. Hand-polished to a mirrorlike finish, the components are then gold-anodized for the ultimate in corrosion resistance. Penn machine-cuts main and pinion gears from heat-treated stainless steel for unparalleled integrity and power. The four aircraft-grade ball bearings are constructed with high-grade stainless steel and are sealed to prevent saltwater-deposited contaminants so you can enjoy your reels for a lifetime of use.

As the leader in big-game fishing, Penn Fishing Tackle can cite nearly 75 years of knowledge, design and manufacturing experience, necessary elements for developing innovative product features. Such features include Penn's ratcheted drag lever, which was created to address issues common in lever drags, such as drifting drag knobs due to engine vibrations and sea conditions. Penn's ratcheted drag lever allows the angler to set the lever to a position anywhere on the 150-degree drag arc and maintain that position regardless of how hard the boat vibrates or pounds from the engines or seas.

Two-speed reels have never been easier to engage either, since Penn designed its Quick Shift™ system to allow anglers to switch between high and low gear with a simple bump of a button or a twist. Charter captains and their customers have been raving about the ease of use, claiming this to be the simplest two-speed mechanism they have tried to date. Anglers simply press an oversize button to engage the lower gear and twist the knurled collar that surrounds the button to re-engage the high gear. No more fumbling to press a small button that's practically hidden or locating the small bar arm to re-engage high gear. Penn's Quick Shift™ two-speed was designed to be the easiest two-speed to operate.
