After listening to customer feedback on its popular HX850S floating handheld with built-in GPS receiver, Standard Horizon has added navigation features - such as waypoint entering and navigation to either a waypoint or a digital-selective-calling position request - and a luminescent gasket to create the new HX851. The 6-watt unit still includes a 12-channel GPS receiver, allowing the radio to transmit a DSC distress call and position report. The full-dot-matrix display shows channel names, radio/position, radio/SOG/COG, waypoint navigation and compass information. The HX851 ($269.99) and the HX751 base unit, without GPS ($159.99), come with a drop-in cradle for 110VAC and 12VDC charging and a three-year warranty. The handhelds are submersible to JIS-7/IPX7 standards - 3.3 feet for 30 minutes. Call 714-827-7600, or visit www.standardhorizon.com.
