Navionics has teamed with Northport Systems, makers of Fugawi navigation software, to create a new PC-based planning tool - Navionics NavPlanner2 powered by Fugawi - that includes an atlas of all U.S. coastal waters, plus many navigable waterways and lakes. NavPlanner2 comes with the equivalent of Navionics Gold U.S. marine charts, so anglers can plan a trip at home with maps that include features such as bottom contours, structures, drop-offs, marinas, boat ramps and fishery information. The software allows users to measure distance and bearing, view coastal charts in 3-D, check tides and currents, and integrate the optional free Fugawi Google Earth Plug-In for split-screen views of Navionics charts and Google Earth satellite imagery. NavPlanner2 comes with a Navionics multi-card reader that can be used to view any optional Navionics chart on plug-and-play CF or SD/MicroSD cards, including Platinum+. Anglers can also program blank cards with waypoints to transfer to and from most chart plotters.
