Lowrance combines high-definition navigational abilities with the company's broadband-sounder technology in the new High Definition System Series, which includes 5-, 7-, 8.4- and 10.4-inch units. All feature a new easy-to-use operating system, extensive mapping choices and maximum expansion possibilities via Ethernet and NMEA 2000. Units with chart plotters include an internal 16-channel GPS+WAAS antenna. Mapping options include Lowrance's new enhanced U.S. base map or exclusive Insight cartography; the units are also compatible with NauticPath and Navionics software. HDS-5s range from $599 (sounder-only model) up to $979 for a combo model with Nautic Insight and 50/200 kHz transducer. HDS-7s range from $1,029 (base map without transducer) up to $1,359 (Insight USA and 50/200 kHz transducer); 8s range from $1,799 to $2,129 for the same configurations; and 10s range from $2,469 to $2,769.
