Although the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades - ICAST - generally creates waves showcasing all-new tackle products, several electronics companies also display new wares. Lowrance won top electronics honors at the ICAST show for its new 10-inch High-Definition System (HDS) 10 multifunction unit. The HDS 10 joins its smaller brethren (5-, 7- and 8-inch versions), introduced last year. The HDS 10 GPS/chart plotter/fish finder features a 10.4-inch, 600-by-800-pixel SolarMAX PLUS TFT screen for sunlight viewing, a new FlyWheel dial, command soft keys and built-in 16-channel GPS+WAAS antenna. The unit incorporates Lowrance's Broadband Sounder technology and Insight USA cartography (Navionics cartography available separately). The unit can be networked with Lowrance's brand-new StructureScan sonar imaging module, HD digital radar, SIRIUS weather/radio and Lowrance-compatible VHF radios that offer Track-Your-Buddy and Get-Buddy features via Ethernet or NMEA 2000. The HDS 10 comes with a choice of 50/200 or 83/200 kHz dual-frequency Skimmer transducers. Base pricing starts at $2,519. Call 800-324-1356, or visit www.lowrance.com.
