Humminbird has announced the addition of Down Imaging Sonar to its side-imaging sonar units. Down imaging presents picturelike images of the bottom, focused directly beneath the boat, while side imaging offers similar views of what's on either side of the vessel. Anglers may choose to view side- and down-imaging pictures side by side or combine both with traditional sonar for a three-way view. Down imaging will be available as a free software upgrade to current owners of Humminbird side-imaging units (except 797c2 SI); no new hardware or transducer is required.
