Topping its VHF radio lineup, Garmin introduces the VHF 300 and VHF 300 AIS, with features such as multi-station support and black-box configuration, as well as an integrated dual-band Automatic Identification System receiver on the AIS model. The VHF can receive AIS signals from vessels that carry transponders and then display them on your networked plotter, mapping the locations of and providing descriptions for ships and many commercial and recreational boats in the area. The 300 offers 25 watts of transmit power and NMEA 2000 and 0183 connectivity. Install the black box belowdecks and operate the unit using up to three GHS 10 handheld microphones. The VHF 300 also comes with a 4-inch active speaker. Other features include Class D Digital Selective Calling, position tracking and a two-way 30-watt hailer. The 300 AIS features four built-in receivers: two for AIS, one for VHF and one for DSC. The 300 costs $699.99, the 300 AIS, $999.99. Call 913-397-8200, or visit www.garmin.com.
