ACR Personal Locator Beacon

The FCC-approved PLB device offers GPS positioning, a 406 MHz satellite-detectable signal and 121.5 MHz homing capability.

ACR Electronics introduces a digital display screen to personal-locator-beacon (PLB) technology with its new AquaLink View. When activated, the digital screen informs users that the beacon is working; displays GPS coordinates and remaining battery power; and gives tips on correct deployment, such as "Do not hold antenna." The FCC-approved PLB device offers GPS positioning, a 406 MHz satellite-detectable signal and 121.5 MHz homing capability. The View allows users to test GPS functionality up to 60 times over the life of the battery; the unit is also compatible with ACR's new 406Link.com subscription service, which sends nondistress messages to family and friends. The 9.2-ounce View ($599) comes with an LED strobe light and transmits the 406 MHz signal at 6.3 watts. Call 800-432-0227, or visit www.acrelectronics.com.
