Distinctive for their electric-blue guides and finishes, Okuma's new Halogen Combos certainly stand out in a crowd. This inshore rod-and-reel series features spinning and baitcasting reels aboard high-modulus graphite blanks sporting cork grips. The spinning reels use six ball bearings and a one-way roller bearing for smooth retrieves and solid hook-sets. The round baitcasters feature a two-ball-bearing drive; both reels offer spools made of machined aluminum. The rods come in everything from 6-foot, one-piece light action to 7-foot, one- or two-piece, medium-heavy to heavy sticks. Spinning reels range from the HG-15, carrying 225 yards of 2-pound test, to the HG-40, which can hold 220 yards of 8-pound and 130 yards of 12-pound. Baitcasters include the HG-150, handling 170 yards of 8-pound (130 yards of 12), and the HG-400 with 260 yards of 15 (165 yards of 20). Combos range in price from $69.99 to $109.99.
