An innovative Slide 'N Grip reel seat that allows anglers to attach a reel anywhere on the rear grip helped win Shimano the ICAST "Best Saltwater Rod" award for its Tiralejo surf rods. Adjustable weights inside the butt section allow anglers to modify the rod's balance no matter where the reel rests.

The Tiralejo series includes five casting rods from 8 to 12 feet in length and 13 spinning rods from 7 1/2 to 12 feet. Shimano puts Fuji LC guide frames on all casting rods and two of the spinners.

Rod blanks are built from a combination of high-modulus graphite and carbon fibers for light weight and strength. The black-diamond grip is custom shaped for comfort. Rods range in cost from $199.99 to $329.99.
