Okuma's New VS Spinning Reels

Okuma's new VS spinning reels seem like they're built to crank up a nuclear reactor. These lightweight aluminum reels come in six sizes for line tests as light as 2-pound and as heavy as 15-pound.

EOS elliptical oscillation drive gears, a dual-force drag system, extreme element bearings: Okuma's new VS spinning reels seem like they're built to crank up a nuclear reactor. These lightweight aluminum reels come in six sizes for line tests as light as 2-pound and as heavy as 15-pound. Each features three extreme elements bearings - made with double-shielded stainless steel and high-density ceramic balls - and nine to 12 high-performance bearings. The EOS drive gears are elliptical in shape and constantly engaged during the two-stroke oscillation, providing superior line lay and unmatched stability, the company says. The dual-force drag uses both surfaces of the spool - above and below - to equalize the force for smoother drag under high tension. Retail cost for the reels ranges from $149.99 to $159.99.
