Daiwa Saltist Reels

Daiwa designed its Saltist reels to handle the crushing loads that today's ultrastrong braided lines dish out.

Daiwa designed its Saltist reels to handle the crushing loads that today's ultrastrong braided lines dish out. The all-metal reels feature rigid aluminum-alloy frames and side plates. Saltists retrieve more than 3 feet of line with every turn of the handle and deliver 30 percent greater winding power than similar reels. Four ball bearings and a roller bearing add efficiency to the drive-train support, and Daiwa's CRBB anticorrosion ball bearings - said to last 12 times longer in a saltwater environment than ordinary stainless bearings - support the spool. Daiwa also beefed up the drag system, combining stainless and grease-impregnated fiber washers in a wet system that delivers greater drag max than similar reels. Saltists come in three models: 30T (handling 20- to 30-pound mono and 40- to 50-pound braid), 40 (25- to 40-pound mono; 40- to 50-pound braid) and 50 (30- to 50-pound mono; 40- to 50-pound braid). Retail costs range from $169.99 to $189.99. More Info>
