Brand new to Daiwa's vaunted Saltist? line of saltwater conventional reels are three high-speed models sure to be prime performers against kingfish, wahoo and other fast gamesters. These reels pick up line fast when fish move toward the boat, or you can  use them for superspeedy lure techniques like tossing Wahoo Bombs. With gear ratios of 6.4-to-1, these reels can rip in over 47 inches of line with every crank of the handle.

Like other Saltist reels, the new high-speeds are built to handle today's ultrastrong braided lines, starting with their rigid-aluminum alloy frames and sideplates. The combination of rigid drive-train support and gear ratio gives the reels a serious advantage in both torque and speed. Four ball bearings and a roller bearing add efficiency to the drive-train support, with Daiwa's special CRBB anticorrosion ball bearings supporting the spool. The CRBB bearings reportedly last up to 12 times longer in a saltwater environment than ordinary stainless-steel ball bearings.

Further refinements to handle the extra strength of the braided lines include a dual antireverse mechanism that combines both infinite antireverse and a multistop system for even greater reliability. The drag is also beefed up, combining stainless and grease-impregnated fiber washers in a wet system that delivers up to 22 percent greater drag max than similar reels.

The new high-speeds come in 30-, 40- and 50-pound classes. The STT30TH holds 300 yards of 20-pound, 240 yards of 25-pound or 200 yards of 30-pound-test monofilament (600 yards of 40-; 360 yards of 50-pound braid). The STT40H can carry 400 yards of 25-, 270 of 30- or 240 of 40-pound mono (660 yards of 40-; 490 yards of 50-pound braid). The STT50H, largest of the speedsters holds 350 of 30-, 310 of 40- or 220 of 50-pound mono (840 of 40-; 630 of 50-pound braid).

To top it all off, pricing is very reasonable for reels of this quality.
