Sperry Top-Sider has taken a step forward in addressing lower-body and back stress caused by rough seas and engine vibration with its ASV Solution footwear. Knowing that anglers often choose athletic shoes that offer the cushioning preferred by runners, Sperry researched those products and found they may actually amplify stress on the water by making wearers less stable. ASV shoes, which come in athletic styles for women and athletic and boat-shoe styles for men, use a proprietary midsole that absorbs and disperses impact. Combined with Sperry's traction and flexibility technologies, the shoes reduce shock by up to 40 percent, the company says.
