As Reelwood partner Paul Nicholson tells it, the origin of his top-quality wooden rod racks could be considered ? well, expected. As many of us know, wives are often the arbiters of good taste when it comes to household furnishings, so we frequently have to root out evil in the form of ugly 5-gallon buckets and plywood. Nicholson found himself in that same boat, so he built a rod rack that can truly be called a piece of fine furniture. Our editor-in-chief says his wife has allowed their mahogany 14-rod holder to live in the computer room rather than in the garage. Now that's saying something. Reelwood makes its racks with hardwoods such as mahogany, teak and balau, which are finished with multiple coats of high-gloss urethane. The racks weigh 22 pounds and measure 39 inches high, 32 inches long and 12 inches wide, with chrome wheels for mobility. Prices range from $149 to $249.
