Standard Horizon GX1700 VHF

The unit uses GPS to enable automated distress calls, position sharing and other DSC features
Sport Fishing Mag

Standard Horizon’s new GX1700 is the industry’s first fixed-mount VHF with a built-in 12-channel GPS — meaning buyers won’t need to wire the VHF to an external GPS to enable automated distress calls, position sharing and other DSC features, as well as waypoint navigation. The GX1700 also stores 100 waypoints; anglers can navigate to those locations by using the unit’s compass display, showing speed, course, bearing and distance. The GPS antenna is in the unit’s front panel. At press time, the GX1700 had not received FCC approval, but the expected on-sale month was February; retail price is $229.99.
