Florida's fall snook season, set to open statewide September 17, will remain closed in Gulf state waters until Sept. 1, 2011, according to a decision last week by Florida's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Snook, a top game fish in Florida and throughout its tropical range (including the Caribbean and Central America), die quickly when water temperatures drop below the mid 50s as they did last winter. See www.myfwc.com for more information.
