McMurdo Fastfind PLB's
Upon activation, the PLB transmits its signal on 406 MHz to the Cospas-Sarsat.
Mar 28, 2008
McMurdo introduces two new featherweight PLBs (Personal Locator Beacons), the FastFind MAX and the Fastfind MAX G (with integral 12-channel GPS). Upon activation, the PLB transmits its signal on 406 MHz to the Cospas-Sarsat. (The satellite system, now celebrating its 25th birthday, has aided in the rescue of more than 20,531 persons in 5,752 distress situations.) The MAX PLBs' battery packs have a five-year storage life (and a 48-hour  minimum operating life) and are user-replaceable; the antenna hides until you deploy the unit, and both models weigh approximately 10 ounces. The FastFind MAX has an MSRP of $509 and the MAX G, $599. Look for them on shelves next month. Contact Revere Supply Co., 800-REVERE8; www.reveresupply.com.
