Bluesails Sportfishing’s main guide, Mike Tan, first fished the waters off Rompin in 1996 after making contact with the local pioneer skipper and other boatmen during off-roading trips to nearby Endau Rompin National Park, & was thrilled to discover the Sailfishing potential of this previously unknown spot. Sailfishing in Rompin was later introduced to the region when a magazine article was published in 1997. After wetting his lines as a recreational fisho for numerous years at K. Rompin, Mike Tan started Bluesails Sportfishing & Off-Road Adventures in 2003 after witnessing that much better standards, service & expertise could be implemented. Bluesails Sportfishing has since expanded based on word of mouth & selected ads targeted mainly at the expatriate community in Singapore and the region. Over the years we’ve had expats from Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Australia, New Zealand & even Shanghai simply through word of mouth! After word got out about the great Sailfishing in Rompin several fishing guides with no local knowledge who were totally dependent on the local boatmen started setting up operations in Singapore and Malaysia. Many of these guides do not have the expertise or knowledge of international game fishing standards, but are seizing the chance to make a quick buck from ill-informed anglers.
