Rendezvous With an Alligator
Sure, after 20 years of fishing Florida's inland salt waters, I could relate a few gator stories, from paddle ends bitten off to push poles used as weapons for saving hooked fish. But only once did I ever really fear for my life. I spend most of my spare time fishing the fertile flats of the Indian River, Banana River and Mosquito Lagoon on the east coast of central Florida - waters famed for their excellent fishing for seatrout, redfish, black drum, snook and tarpon. But the clean water and rich forage base that attract game fish also attract alligators.
