Do Towers Scare Fish?
The most commonly heard objection to towers on small boats has to be that they scare fish. Anglers frequently squat on the bows of flats skiffs to present a lower, harder-to-see profile. Wouldn't standing 4 feet above the deck in the center of the boat spook your quarry? Capt. John Thomas, who fishes the west coast of Florida for redfish, snook, tarpon and cobia, says, "I've heard people all my life say that towers scare fish, and that was a concern of mine when I was considering this boat.
