Sight fishing for the "bullies of the flats" requires good stalking and fish fighting skills.
Help! Help!" screamed Josh Brimmer, my 15-year-old cousin. Josh frantically wanted help as he hung on desperately to a rod that a large, angry fish hoped to take away from him. I had purposely maneuvered my boat into the frenzy of a mullet run, figuring the first-time fisher would get plenty of action - perhaps more than he really wanted. Mullet flew out of the water as big jack crevalle ripped through them. Josh, who had cast his bait into the melee, now faced a major problem handling his fish. As I shouted instructions like a cornerman at a prize fight, Josh fought bravely.
On Wednesday I fished the Nichols brothers, George and Paul, in the Indian River.
