Wellcraft 230 Coastal

When someone coined the term "Pocket fisherman," they must have had the Wellcraft 230 Coastal in mind. Trailerable yet with comfortable accommodations below means kids can take naps and tackle can be stored. Family-friendly aspects of the 230 include a full-height transom, self-contained head and a small galley. Also, whether docking, fishing or just sunbathing there, access to the bow just became much easier by virtue of molded steps leading up to the side walkways. Adequate handholds make getting there and back a cinch, too.

Later, when you need to cool off or wash off sticky hands, a freshwater transom shower will do the trick.
Fishing amenities include a lighted live baitwell, storage for six rods and two insulated fish boxes in addition to a 30-quart drainable cooler and saltwater washdown.
Wellcraft passes down advanced technology construction from its world-famous Scarab offshore racing line. The 230 won't run over 100 mph like the Scarabs; you can expect it to top out in excess of 50 mph with a pair of 150-hp outboards. However, other features handed down include weather-resistant switches, stainless-steel propellers, hydraulic steering and full engine instrumentation including a water pressure gauge and plenty of open space in which to mount electronics.
If you want a quality family fisherman with room to move that won't bruise your budget, Wellcraft's 230 Coastal deserves a test ride.
