Sea Hunt XP21

Sea Hunt represents one of those truly rare marques that builds price-conscious boats but with quality that promotes longevity.

The standard-equipment list cites a 30-gallon wet- or dry-storage compartment on centerline under the forward casting platform along with flanking twin 35-gallon dry-storage/rod lockers. The XP 21 sports pop-up cleats throughout, a dedicated in-deck compartment for cast-net storage (in a five-gallon pail) and additional rod storage under each gunwale.

Other standard fishing-specific features consist of a 25-gallon livewell under the forward console seat, four in-gunwale rod holders aft, another 20-gallon livewell on centerline in the aft casting deck and vertical rod storage along the console side. Helm ergonomics have been well designed and executed for maximum comfort - from the height of the wheel and seating to the toe space under the helm.

Sea Hunt's option list isn't long, but items most anglers ask for include a leaning post with a backrest and additional rod holders as well as an integral tackle/catchall box under the cushion, stainless-steel steering wheel with power knob, Teleflex SeaStar hydraulic power steering and most certainly trim tabs.

Sea Hunt leads the way in the battle against damaging ethanol-laced fuels that permeate through fiberglass fuel tanks on boats. Permeation happens when the hydrocarbon molecules in the fuel pass between the larger molecules of the fuel tank, causing a fuel odor - or worse. Sea Hunt's new roto-cast tanks meet or exceed all 2011 EPA and CARB standards.

The XP 21 features a reasonable bow flare to keep you dry, and a well-designed running surface helps smooth out the chop as you cross the open bay to reach your fishing spot.
