Yamaha T25 and F25 four-stroke outboards

Yamaha T25 and F25 four-stroke outboards come in tiller (standard or multifunction) or remote models

Yamaha says its new T25 (high thrust) and F25 four-stroke outboards pair up well with aluminum fishing boats and small skiffs. Both engines use a 498-cc, two-cylinder powerhead that features a new block and cylinder head but uses the connecting rods, pistons and valves of the F60. The F25 comes in two shaft lengths - 15- and 20-inch - offers a 2.08-to-1 gear ratio and weighs 170 to 181 pounds. The T25 comes with a 20-inch shaft, offers a 2.42-to-1 gear ratio and weighs 203 pounds. The engines come in tiller (standard or multifunction) or remote models and with manual or electric starters and a CDI microcomputer ignition system. Compared with Yamaha's own two-stroke 25, the F25 produced 25 to 31 percent better wide-open-throttle fuel economy in Yamaha's side-by-side testing while losing only slightly on acceleration and proving about even at top speed. The F25 ranges in price from $3,900 to $4,745; the T25 costs $4,865. Call 866-894-1626, or visit www.yamahaoutboards.com.
