Mercury 125 OptiMax

The DFI two-stroke 125 comes with either a 20- or 25-inch shaft...

Mercury Marine designed its new 125 OptiMax for a variety of smaller-boat applications, including deep-V, fiberglass "multispecies boats" 19 feet and longer rated for up to 175 horsepower. The DFI two-stroke 125 comes with either a 20- or 25-inch shaft and weighs 375 pounds. With 93 cubic inches of displacement from an inline three-cylinder block, the 125 offers plenty of torque for an improved hole shot and top-end speed, Mercury says. The Opti also features a 2.7-to-1 gear ratio and operates at a wide-open-throttle RPM range of 5,000 to 5,750. Retail price for the outboard with a 20-inch shaft is $10,175 - for the 25-inch shaft, $10,450. Call 920-929-5040, or visit www.mercurymarine.com.
