Complementing its midrange selection of four-stroke outboards (40-, 50-, 75- and 90-horsepower engines), Honda has introduced the BF60 and its sisters: the BF60 Tiller and BFP60 (Power Thrust technology). The Honda BF60 features a new "wedge-shape" design and comes with a 20- or 25-inch shaft. The in-line, three-cylinder, programmed-electronic-fuel-injected engine produces 60 hp at 5,500 rpm at the prop shaft, Honda says. The standard version offers a 2.07-to-1 gear ratio and 22 amp alternator; the Power Thrust model comes with a 27 amp alternator and provides a 2.33-to-1 gear ratio (for increased thrust under heavy loads). The engines weigh in at 239 to 269 pounds depending on model and shaft length. The 998-cc BF60s feature Honda's Boosted Low Speed Torque system, Lean Burn Control and an adjustable trolling system that allows anglers to tweak speed in 50 rpm increments from 750 to 1,000 rpm. Retail prices range from $10,137 to $10,637. Call 770-497-6400, or visit www.hondamarine.com.
