Mercury Marine took the wrapper off a totally new 150 four-stroke on the first day of the 2012 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, and unlike the Verado line, this outboard relies on high displacement for its oomph. It has a relatively large 3.0-liter displacement block, yet it is also the lightest and smallest 150 four-stroke on the market – 20 pounds lighter than the next lightest. It is also the only 150 with an oil cooler. Its 60-amp alternator is the most powerful for the growing number of electronics on saltwater fishing boats today.
