Okuma's new marquee Vsystem spinning reel is setting the standard in spinning-reel technology. In 2006, the line expands with the introduction of big-water sizes: V-65 and V-80.

Vsystem reels are built using rigid aluminum construction (ALC). This design allows them to withstand tremendous amounts of pressure and torque. It also provides precise tolerances between moving parts while keeping the reels light
and compact.

The heart of the Vsystem is the revolutionary, patented elliptical oscillation (EOS) gear system, which increases strength and enhances line lay for better casting performance and smoothness. The elliptical-shaped gears constantly engage during oscillation, promoting unmatched stability.

These big-water reels also feature the Dual-Force Drag System (DFD), which incorporates both surfaces of the spool. This drag starts with our legendary multidisk design and includes a large washer attached to the bottom of the spool that equalizes and maximizes drag pressure.

With 15 bearings and one roller bearing, the Vsystem reels offer smoothness, but also durability. The reels utilize two styles of bearings. The Extreme Element Bearings (EBB) are double-shielded stainless steel and employ high-density ceramic balls for the ultimate in corrosion resistance. The second bearing style is the High-Performance Bearings (HPB), which are also double-shielded and stainless-steel; they will outlast any traditional stainless bearing.

All these components when combined deliver the smoothest, most spectacular reel in its class, backed with an unprecedented five-year factory warranty to assure trouble-free use.

Both big-water reels feature a 4.8:1 gear ratio. The V-65 picks up 34 inches of line per turn of the handle and holds 430 yards of 12-pound, 310 yards of 15-pound or 260 yards of 20-pound test. The V-80 gathers 38 inches of line per crank and carries 420 yards of 15-pound, 350 yards of 20-pound or 260 yards of 25-pound test.
