Kona Hawaii fishing report, August 2008

HighNoon is one of the few owner/operated Kona charter boats! We offer personalized service to each and every customer.

The Blue Marlin fishing in Kona continues to be excellent.....the best in years! While today, Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 we only had one good marlin strike, it was a good one estimated weight at 600 lbs. Unfortunately, as the saying goes "it was the one that got away". Yesterday, Mike Mueller and his family from St. Louis, Missouri had a magical day. First, Mike's son hooked into a 250 Blue Marlin and this 19 year old young man had the fight of his lifetime. After 30 grueling minutes and some great arial gymnastics, we finally got this fish to the side of the boat and released it unharmed. Mike thought our day was over...sorry, not yet. We caught a live skipjack tuna about ten pounds and put it out for live bait. Wasn't in the water 15 minutes, when another Marlin hooked up. Now Mike himself was in for a great fight, but he also did a great job and we also released this fish weighing about 200 lbs. This last week, we have had Blue Marlin hookups every day and it continues to get better. If you are a Blue Marlin fisherman, hop the first jet to Kona. It is the best Kona Blue Marlin fishing in years!
