Cabo Fishing Report, May 16

Still got them Stripes!!

Cabo Fishing Report, May 16
Striped Marlin are here in numbers that we have not seen in a couple of years, and just in time. Last week brought the very best of the angling world to Cabo San Lucas for the annual IGFA World Championship tournament. Anglers were not disappointed. 59 Teams fished for four days for a total catch of 282 striped marlin, 6 sailfish, 2 blue marlin and 2 swordfish!!! The guys are sharpened to a fine point from the four days of highly competitive fishing. Daily catch rates are still averaging four Striped Marlin per boat, along with one or two cooler fish for dinner. The Dorado are finally here, I was personally expecting the numbers to be higher. I have a bug up my arse about it, might be time to send a boat up north to see what size of schools we can find. We will keep you posted. This is a good indicator of the type of Blue and Black marlin season we will have. The weather has been unseasonably warm and the water temps are following suit. The right number of Dorado, yellowfin, and bonita could set us up another killer summer.
We would like to give a big thanks to the IGFA, the guys at Bonnier, and all the teams that came to us from every corner of the globe. It was honor for us to participate and we value the feedback and appreciation we received. Coming this week we will be completing a series of instructional videos and will get them posted on the website, you tube, facebook, and Trip adviser! Stay Tuned!
