Vancouver Canada fishing report

Salmon, Sturgeon and Steelhead fishing report for Vancouver BC

Hello anglers!
Thanks for reading the most updated report for Vancouver freshwater fishing including the Fraser river!
Right now we have some very good Steelhead fishing on the Chilliwack river, either by fly fishing or casting/drifting with float. The Chilliwack river has one of the best runs of Steelhead for southern BC and this year has been very good for an unusual amount of Big fish! Plenty of Steelhead over 15 lbs and up to 22 have been taken this season(Jan-present) and March is our big month so I expect some good fishing! The Chilliwack river is only 1 hr from downtown Vancouver, although there are other rivers too that offer some good opportunities within 1.5 hrs.
Trout are starting to feed on hatching salmon fry and this is a good fly fishery. Bull trout to 15 lbs are available and Cutthroat trout too but they average 14" and up to 24".
March-early May is good for this trout fishery.
Springtime means world famous Sturgeon fishing on the Fraser river and it's just around the corner! These huge beasts average 4-5 feet long and commonly exceed 7 feet or 200 lbs! For those who do not know- Sturgeon are fantastic sportfish, their reputation for hard fighting, jumping and screaming runs is second to few fish on the planet! Since 1996 we have been providing succesfull guided fishing trips in Vancouver BC and the Fraser river, and ocean charters too for Salmon or trout.
