Sorry folks I've been slacking for a few days on getting out the latest fishing report. The boat "Pescador" has been broken down for a spell and our Boss had offered our's to Ralph (owner) until it was repaired. We fished for 7 days and saw quite a blue marlin, still nothig large, but incredible action none the less. Fishing lure on 30lb. with 6lb drag at strike.
1st day March 25th:
From 11:15am to 1 pm it was red hot. We caught only 2 out of 5 but it seemed like we couldn't get the spread back out without a bite of some sort. The nothing until after 5pm when we caught 2 out of 3, making for a daily total of 4 for 8 wiht some nice dolphin mixed in and a nice wahoo.
2nd day March 26th
A little slower today but a much better hook up. We raised one fish that didn't eat and caught 2 that did.
3rd day march 27th:
Weather was getting really nice and fish continued to bite catching 2 out of 4 for the day.
4th day March 28th:
Flat calm but the fishing seemed to slow down with the nice weather. We raised another non-eater an caqught 1 out of 2.
5th day March 29th
Today some of the local pangaboat commercial fisherman came out with us. They were very helpful and told us some of their tricks for the area. However until the first bite at 11:28 They probably thought we didn't know what we were doing. They also thought that just catching a marlin was certain death for the animal. Our tailwrapped fish almost confirmed it. However after careful persistence we dragged the fish longenough for it to get all of it's color back and swim away on it's own. They were very impressed. The rest of the day brought us 5 more bites with no hook ups. We also saw or raised another 4-6 fish.
6th day March 30th:
Rogher than hell over night. Managed to catch one at 11:30 then raised a double about 30 mins. later got one to bite but pulled the hook.
Last day March 31st:
Nothing like finishing out with a bang. We raised6 fish today and got bites out of all of them. Two sets were double headers which we did not hook and we missed two other singles. Lots of fian=h but we still only caught one.
In all we ended up 12 for 32 and probably saw around 40. We definitely learned that the light drags on lures out of the riggers is not the way to go. The only other boat fishing was the "BETSY". They caught 16 in 6 days I believe. They didn't see as many as we did but had a better hook up ratio. We start fishing again April 17th with the Show WORLD CLASS SPORTFISHING aboard. Look for another report after the 23rd.
