2009 Fishing Gear Premiere

A roundup of cutting-edge tackle and accessories

Minn Kota Riptide SF
Minn Kota incorporated an entirely new arm design into its new SF bow-mount trolling motor. The Mono Arm - the piece connecting the mount to the motor - includes fewer moving parts and features a single main hinge with a surface area 20 times larger than conventional motor brackets. All metal-on-metal surfaces are also isolated with composite bushings, resulting  in reduced wear, extended motor life and   virtually silent operation.

Extruded from anodized aluminum, the Mono Arm's structural beam is lighter yet stronger, providing tighter tolerances and reducing twisting and racking by 75 percent. Minn Kota's Counter Tension Stabilizer reduces steering torque, eliminating motor play and noise.

Minn Kota also introduced a more impact-resistant head and a new tiller-steering mechanism on the SF, which allows users to extend the handle and customize the tilt angle to fit their needs. The SF features Minn Kota's Lift-Assist and Bowguard 360 technologies.

Riptide SFs are available in 24- and 36-volt systems with either 80 or 101 pounds of thrust and shaft lengths of 52 or 62 inches. Prices range from $999.99 to $1,109.99. Call 800-227-6433, or visit www.minnkotamotors.com.
